Welcome to the FirePoise news page!

This page will be updated every now and again (when I have time!), with news
of just some of the things we've done, what we're doing... and maybe even
a little bit about what we're going to do.

June 2010: It's a really busy month, with performances for Larne's Alive Pirate Festival, Craigavon Business Awards, weddings and a medieval night - among others! We also performed for the Body and Soul Solstice Festival at Ballinalough Castle.

May 2010: International fire artist Meghan Pike visits us to choreograph our brand new show... it'll take a few weeks to get it perfect, but it's an amazing opportunity to learn from such a brilliant performer. Also this month, FirePoise bring a four-person fire show to the mighty Pigstock festival in Killinchy!

April 2010: Clare finally manages to programme her hi-tech LED equipment to deliver an amazing LED performance for Larne Council at their Larne's Got Style Fashion Show.

March 2010: FirePoise takes part in the Bray St Patrick's Day parade.

February 2010: Clare hosts the Gala and Renegade show of the Belfast Juggling Convention in the Mandela Hall.

December 2009: We welcome in the New Year performing a fire show for the wedding of a lovely couple at Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny.

November 2009: FirePoise perform at the first Victorian Fair in Whitehead.

October 2009: FirePoise performs for the West Belfast Feile in Falls Park, Belfast (Oct 30) and the Belfast Halloween event in Clarendon Dock on October 31. Other FirePoise performers are in Strabane and Glenarm.

August 2009: Another splendid summer passes of weddings, workshops and private parties. In August, we collect our gorgeous new costumes - all ready for a brand new show to be launched next year.

October 2008: After a summer of weddings, festivals and parties, FirePoise perform for Shell Livewire Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Culloden Hotel. Also this month, we worked for RTE, producing an ident for their upcoming Talent show.

April 2008: Clare Palmer performs as part of an Irish Show for Silver Dollar City, Branson, Missouri, US. This show is twice a day, five times a week, for four weeks.

November 2007: Clare Palmer and Will Hawkins perform their guitar and fire act for the Queen's University Executive in the Whitla Hall.

October 2007: FirePoise enlists the services of some of the best staff manipulators in Europe (Rob Thorburn, Meg Pike and Sebastian Berger) to teach a specialised staff workshop through Dee Street Community Centre, Belfast.

Sept/Oct 2007: FirePoise perform again at Belfast City Council's Enchanted Evenings event (Botanic Gardens) and Halloween Monster Mash (Clarendon Dock)... something we have continued to do every year since.

July 2007: FirePoise perform a series of fire shows in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin for event management group Planit. Also this month, we started a year of promotional work for Coca-Cola's Burn launch in Northern Ireland.

April 2007: Clare performs a fire dance as part of the opera Aida, staged by Ellen Kent International, in the Waterfront Hall.

March 2007: FirePoise leads the Dublin St Patrick's Day Parade... the first of three consecutive years leading one of the world's biggest parades.

December 2006: As with 2005, 2006 and 2007, FirePoise takes part in the Beat Initiative Lantern parade... this year we had fire performers in the parade and performed a show for the finale at the end.

September 2006: FirePoise performs a choreographed fire show inside the Waterfront Hall for the Chartered Institute of Marketing Awards. Also this month, Clare won the international fire spinning video competition, Circles of Light 2006.

August 2006: FirePoise works with Paul Brolly from the BBC to create their beautiful Autumn idents, which run for 15 weeks on BBC1 and BBC2. Also this month, we worked with the fabulous Fanzinis in Galway, to produce a fireshow for the Rose of Tralee festival.

May 2006: FirePoise hired by Miramax to take part in Becoming Jane movie.

January 2006: FirePoise interviewed by Joe Lindsay for 'Inside Out'. We taught him to spin fire, and he loved it!

January 2006: The first FirePoise website goes live, after lots of work, care and attention by Rob Hilken (www.robhilken.com)

September 2005: Clare Palmer launches FirePoise at the Wedding Extravaganza in the Odyssey.

December 2004: Clare Palmer starts gathering other fiery folk to informal fire gatherings in Crescent Park, Belfast. These gatherings still happen every fortnight. For more information, please contact Clare on mailinglist@firepoise.com
